Our bodies weren’t built to handle so much with so little opportunity for rest and recovery. In a world that expects you to just keep going, I'm glad that you are here.
Hello! I'm Kaila, and I have been a registered massage therapist since graduating from Sutherland Chan in 2015. I am also a parent, a (novice) organic gardener and environmentalist, and a gender studies graduate.
I provide registered massage therapy for women and trans/gender diverse folks with a focus on mitigating the physical impacts of stress.
Because whether you’re navigating the daily overstimulation of working and/or parenting in the big city, experiencing one of life’s many emotional and physical transitions, handling the big stuff, or, like many, you‘re doing all three — your body is responding exactly as it was built to in the face of challenge. It’s releasing hormones, adjusting muscle tone, and doing everything it can to protect you.
It just wasn't designed to do this in a world that provides so little opportunity to recover.
Over the past decade, I have provided support in various clinical settings — from a busy downtown studio serving over-worked professionals, to an outpatient clinic for mental health and addictions — and personally experienced the impact of massage therapy through everything from pregnancy, to parenthood, to cancer treatment.
Through both personal and professional experience, I designed and opened my home studio with an understanding of what it means to feel stretched, and what it can mean to find a safe, supportive space to find relief.
My practice is continuously evolving. I have additional training in trauma-informed care, craniosacral therapy, persistent pain, and infant and pregnancy massage. I also participated in a six month birth doula mentorship program.
Bodies of all varieties are welcomed here. My practice is a gender affirming space, and you can expect proper pronouns and gender neutral language around the body and its functions. (Yes, that includes the perinatal experience).
Acknowledging that health and wellbeing is dependent on social and environmental justice, 3% of all treatments go towards organizations working for environmental and social change. I support small, local businesses wherever possible, and take all possible measures to reduce my environmental footprint. Visit my sustainability page for more info.
The space is accessible via a short staircase. Please contact me in advance of your appointment if you need assistance taking the stairs.
There is free street parking available on Hartley Ave (1 hour only) and the surrounding streets. It is also well connected to transit via both the Dufferin and Eglinton buses.
Please note that I have a dog! While I do my best to ensure that the space is dander free through thorough cleaning and a HEPA filtered air purifier, people with pet allergies may want to consider this when booking.
I am more than happy to wear a mask for those who prefer or require this for accessibility. You will have an opportunity to request this when filling out your intake forms.
